Los Feliz sits right under Griffith Park and the Observatory, and much of it was built in the 1920s. Laughlin Park and Los Feliz Oaks have large Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean estates on private and winding streets. Franklin Hills has smaller hillside homes, plenty of mid-century houses, and the famous public stairways. South of Franklin Avenue, along Vermont, Hillhurst, and Los Feliz Boulevard, there are elegant 1920s and 1930s apartment buildings and duplexes.
Kitchens in period homes have usually been remodeled — sometimes beautifully, sometimes in a hurry. We see custom cabinetry, deep stainless sinks, and premium disposals in the larger houses, and original-layout galley kitchens in the apartments.
The neighborhood is close to our base, which makes same-day visits realistic. Gated streets and narrow drives in Laughlin Park and Los Feliz Oaks just need a little coordination.
